Styles is originally from Canton, New York and played his Minor hockey in the Canton Minor Hockey Association, eventually playing High School Hockey for the Canton Golden Bears and continuing to Prep-School playing for The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut. Styles played College Hockey for SUNY Canton from 2003-2005 where he was named Captain of the team in 2005 and went on to Franklin Pierce University.
For Styles, his hockey mentality and coaching influence stem from his northern roots and especially longtime Canton hockey coach Randy Brown. “Randy always got the very best from his players and taught the proper discipline, work ethic, and desire to compete on and off the ice.” Coach Brown’s influence is one that Styles’s tries to instill in his players today.
His goals for the season are to expand and develop players individual skills, with an emphasized focus on increased skating speed and poise with the puck. Through the use of video and technology, Styles plans to further develop players skills, team play, and overall hockey sense on and off the ice. Styles resides in Saratoga Springs and has coached various levels of Mite and Squirt hockey over the past five years.
